Don Mattingly Kicks Off Baseball Camps at Pier 40 With Hitting Clinic And Father's Day Bat Donation
Indevus Pharmaceuticals join Mattingly Baseball in donating limited-edition blue bats to support Prostate Cancer Awareness Month
NEW YORK, NY -- (MARKET WIRE) - June 2, 2007 Don Mattingly a.k.a. "Donnie Baseball," is a six-time All-Star, the 1984 American League MVP and a Gold Glove first baseman who played for the Yankees from 1982-1995 and now serves as the Yankees' bench coach. But Mattingly's style of play is not all that makes this Yankee icon so unique - he has also invented a new bat that is revolutionizing hitting instruction. Mattingly, and his new equipment company - Mattingly Baseball - have partnered with Urban Dove and Piers, Parks and Playgrounds (P3), two non-profit youth organizations, to help make baseball more accessible to all kids, especially low-income youth.
Mattingly will kick off P3's Pier 40 Summer Camps with a special bat donation in honor of father's day. Indevus Pharmaceuticals, in support of Prostate Cancer Awareness, is sponsoring a special blue bat provided by Mattingly Baseball. Don will personally present these limited edition blue bats and give a brief hitting clinic using the V-Grip bats which he personally designed. The bats will be donated to Urban Dove and P3 for use in their upcoming programs at Pier 40 that will use baseball as a vehicle for engaging at-risk youth in positive, educational activities.
